What good is someone elses business card?

Other than creating a nice Christmas Tree ornament out of all the business cards you've collected from your potential clients, consider following through with this suggestion from Geoff at NotaryGift.com:

Do you organize your client informations?

Maybe you should. I didn’t at first, but when I started to track each person or company I tried to solicit my loan signing service to, I got better at figuring out what most of them wanted.

For instance, if I visited a mortgage company and talked to a few of the brokers there, I would get a business card from them so I could later enter their contact information. At the time, I was just using MS Word. I would then add notes as to if they wanted to use me or not, along with any reasons they cited for not wanting to use my service, and any other information they gave me that might be of use later (like “they were too slow”, or “they’ve been using the same notary for years”). I’d also notate when I visited them and what times where the best to reach them.

Read the rest for an excellent tip on getting better information from your contacts.
