Author's Profile: Mary L. Baier, Mobile Notary in Jersey Shore, PA

This article doesn't have a lot to do with notary but then again it has a very significant point that all of us should follow everyday.

We get involved in our lives, the missing phone calls, the not paying services, printer and technical problems, "I want things done yesterday clients" and all other problems that we face on a given day. I had an opportunity to see how small these problems are to someone with greater disabilities.

I was asked to drive a golf cart for Camp Hero which is a camp for children with severe heart conditions.  These children have all kinds of issues and most have had 3 and 4 open heart surgeries.  They will be on medicine and breathing machines all their lives.  There are doctors and nurses there around the clock.  In fact last year a little girl died at the camp.

They probably won't live to see the problems we think are insurmountable to us and given a choice they wish they could.  The activities included swimming, movies, archery, fishing, arts, glass blowing and rock climbing.  Each of these activities had to be geared down to their level.

To see the face on some of these kids when they caught a fish or climbed to the top of the wall was amazing.  I didn't get much time to watch some of the activities.  There were two of us and we were always busy.

Let's try to remember how small some of the complaints of ours are compared to others who would trade anything to be in our shoes.
